Things to See and Do and Places to See and Visit

Local Amenities - You will find grocers/deli, supermarket, gift shops, and don't forget local Spanish watering holes!.

Markets - These are held daily in different areas, the nearest being Cabo de Palos on Sunday's (The market is geared at locals and not tourists, it's a big market and is often very busy, we would always recommend a taxi because it is very difficult to park).

Shopping - small boutiques to large department store can be found in the near by city of Murcia (fourty minutes) or local town Cartagena (twenty five minutes). Great choice of gifts, designer clothes and perfumes.

Old Historic Fishing Port - Cabo de Palos, great people watching area, wonderful fish restaurants (ten minute drive).

Trendy Yachting Marina - Puerto Thomas Maestre is the location of Apartment Puerto Latino 2. It has an array of bars, small boutiques, and restaurants, we strongly recommend the Mexican restaurant.

Historic City of Cartagena Just 20 kilometres from La Manga is Cartagena, an ancient port founded by the Carthaginians in 221 BC, with the ruins of a Roman theatre and a number of archaeological museums. Inland from Cartagena, the countryside of Murcia, bordered by the dry, semi-desert plain of Almeria, winds its way towards the picturesque towns and villages of Lorca, Totana and Alhama.

Horse Riding - Cross-country - Adults and children can join in the fun, which takes place in Los Belones (fifteen minute drive).

Water Sports - There are a great variety of water activities from jet skiing, surfing, scuba-diving, canoeing, wind-surfing, kayaks, banana & donut rides to deep sea diving. Or why not charter a luxury boat, sip champagne and sail around the blue lagoon.

Sports - La Manga is world known for it's golfing, football and tennis centre. La Manga Club is only 15 minutes away and the strip has it's own sporting facilities. To use there facilities you have to book well in advance. There are a number of other golf courses available in the area, that are just as good and more moderately priced. Some of the apartment have their own tennis court, you will have to book this with the concierge and pay a small fee of around 40p for the hour, to give you some idea this will cost you around £40.00 plus !! for a tennis court in La Manga Club, the advantage with the La Manga Club however is that there are over 40 tennis courts.

Transport - options walk, cycle, bus, car hire, boat or taxi. Taxi's are very cheap and a good idea for those wishing to fully experience La Manga. Make use of the many cycling lanes and hire a bicycle, the strip is flat thus pedaling is made easier, and comfortable with the sea breezes. There is a regular bus service and also a ferry to local islands.

As you can see there are so many options to your holiday. Whether you are looking for a quiet relaxing break or an action packed adventure. ...

We take great care to ensure your stay will be just as you wish. We live locally too, and will be on-hand to give help and advice in getting the most out of your holiday.

La Manga is basically a strip of land situated
between two seas, one being the Mediterranean
and the other the largest inland lake, called the Mar Menor.

The Mar Menor, or fountain of health, is the largest
salt-water lake in Europe and is said to contain
minerals which have healing qualities for such
ailments as skin problems and rheumatism.

The shallow waters make it a beautiful and natural swimming pool, a safe area for children to swim,
and the fact there are no tides make the Mar Menor
the ideal place for a huge variety of water sport.

La Manga has miles of beautiful beaches and coves and 'the strip', as it is known, is 17kms long and makes for an enjoyable cycle-ride or drive.

Alicante & St. Javier (Murcia) airports are not far away & are both serviced by low cost airlines operating out of Stansted, East Midlands, Gatwick, Birmingham, Newcastle, Luton, Liverpool, Manchester & Southampton.
The area is very Spanish and is not your typical British package deal holiday resort. The locals are very friendly and whilst many do speak English, a phrase book is sometimes useful.
